Located in the fast-growing Harris Ranch area of Boise, the new Coffee Mill will serve coffee and espresso drinks, smoothies and food, along with beer and wine. Owner Steve Tracy is a Nampa native and already owns and operates the Ranch Market gas station, just next door to the new Coffee Mill.
“We’re really a community establishment,” said Steve. “We’re not a franchise or a big corporation. We were born and raised here and we know the community well.”
Customers at the Ranch Market are looking forward to having a new business in the area, Steve said: “They’re super excited. We hear it from them firsthand.”
Prior to the Ranch Market opening in 2014, the only nearby business was a pizza restaurant, and Steve saw a need in the community for another eating establishment and a coffee shop. Now, Steve is opening the 2,100-square-foot Coffee Mill, with a drive-up window, lounge area and patio seating, at 4979 E. Warm Springs Ave.
When it came to financing the project, Steve – a former commercial lender – knew that he would have to look outside a bank for financing, as most are unlikely to finance business startups. He secured help from a private investor, but he had a few remaining needs, including equipment cost and working capital.
“I gave Montana & Idaho CDC a call, and the rest is history,” said Steve.
“Over half of our small-business loans went to entrepreneurs and small-business owners in Idaho last year, and we’re excited to continue this momentum in 2017,” said Dave Glaser, CEO and President of Montana & Idaho CDC. “Steve is a very savvy business owner, and his latest startup project is a great addition to the Harris Ranch community.”
